How is finger dexterity developed for the piano? Fingering that allows hands and fingers to move easily is a fasci­nating discipline developed to high levels of dexterity by teachers and performers. Whenever possible, place the five fingers on five adjacent notes and use standard scale and arpeggio fingerings. This means learning scales and arpeggio fingerings and using them in your pieces.
